Teen Pleads Guilty In Attack On Lehigh University Student

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) — A Puerto Rican teenager living with his sister in eastern Pennsylvania has pleaded guilty to charges he broke into a Lehigh University student's apartment last July and attempted to rape and kill her.

Bryan Sanchez-Osorio faces up to 80 years in prison after pleading guilty Monday to charges of attempted murder, attempted rape, aggravated assault and burglary.

Sentencing is scheduled for March 26, pending the completion of psychological and psychosexual evaluations.

Prosecutors say the 17-year-old Sanchez-Osorio broke into the 23-year-old foreign exchange student's bedroom, tore off her underpants and choked her until she turned blue.

They say her screams woke roommates who called police.

Sanchez-Osorio had been hospitalized in Puerto Rico for aggressive behavior, severe irritability, symptoms of severe depression and suicidal thoughts.

He relocated to Bethlehem for additional treatment.
