Teen Critically Injured In Pennsville Hit-And-Run

PENNSVILLE, NJ. (CBS) -- The search is on for a hit-and-run driver who seriously injured a teenager in Salem County, New Jersey.

It happened just before 2 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of North Hook Road at Lee Avenue in Pennsville.

Police say a 17-year-old student from Pennsville Memorial High School was riding his skateboard when he was struck by car that did not stop.

The teen was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

On Monday, the high school's principal said he received a call from the victim's mom and she said he is showing signs of forward progress where he has been reactive to both light and physical stimulus. She added he has a long road toward recovery but the progress he made overnight is 'good.'

Investigators believe they are looking for a Hyundai Elantra with front-end damage.
