Teen Charged With Impersonating A Police Officer

DOVER, Del. (CBS) -- Troopers arrested a 17 year-old teen after he attempted to pull over a car with his own vehicle.

It happened around 12:10 a.m. when a 24 year-old female was traveling northbound on Bayside drive just past North Little Creek Road when a the car she was behind pulled over to allow her to pass.

Police say the tan Chevrolet Impala pulled back out behind her and activated strobe lights that were in the grill and windshield of the car.

The female driver pulled off to the shoulder, thinking that it was a Malibu police offer, but the car passed her.

The driver continued northbound when the tan Chevrolet Impala repeated the incident. This time she did not pull over and the car pulled alongside in a no passing zone  for a few seconds before passing her.

She was able to call 9-1-1 and describe the incident and vehicle. Police were able to make an arrest shortly after she reported the incident.

Edward Steele Jr., of Smyrna, was taken into custody and charged with criminal impersonation of a police officer, disorderly conduct, driving without a valid license, driving in a no passing zone and unauthorized flashing lights.

He was arraigned and  released on $1,325.00 unsecured bond.
