Teen Arrested For Lower Merion Carjackings

LOWER MERION TWP. (CBS) - A Philadelphia teenager has been arrested in connection with three carjackings in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County over the last month.

The carjackings happened between September 15th and October 13th.

Lower Merion Police Sergeant Gavin Goschinski says the 17-year-old boy had the same M.O. in each case:

"He approached pedestrians, vehicle owners, outside of stores or their home as they were about to enter or were exiting their vehicles and was very calm in his demeanor. Implied and/or displayed a handgun, told them he'd take the car of he would kill them. He asked for cash and the phone."

Goschinksi says, however, the suspect then just drove around. He abandoned the first one, may have sold the second one, and was stopped by Philadelphia Police while driving the third.

He faces counts of Robbery of a Motor Vehicle, Terroristic Threats and other crimes.
