Tech Entrepreneur Says Unplug From Facebook And Experience People

By Melony Roy

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Experience People is a movement towards rejecting technology and behavior that creates digital dependency. Tech entrepreneur Brian Hiss is touring the country to create awareness and call for change.

"The goal is to talk to entrepreneurs, founders of companies, big industry giants in the tech industry, really foster new best practices in the industry to not create this sticky immersive experience," he said. "Use technology to aid the experience, not be the experience."

He has some tips for kicking your digital addiction.

"We spend 40 minutes a day on Facebook as Americans. Spend 20 minutes, cut that in half," he suggested. "Instead of living vicariously though family and friends, get inspired by your friends and family and plan adventures of your own in that 20 minutes you save, that's over 200 hours a year."

Hiss also suggests turning off notifications on your phone and only checking it twice a day.

Filmmaker Rob Loud is capturing the 12 week, 20 city tour for a documentary to be released in the spring.
