16 Facing Child Porn Charges In New Jersey

By Mike Dougherty

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) — Sixteen people in New Jersey were arrested this morning in a child porn sting.

Four of them are from South Jersey.

Acting Attorney General Robert Lougy announced the results of a multifaceted effort to bring in alleged child predators.

"They're truly vile, and it's just torture."

The sting produced 16 arrests, including residents of Pitman, Southampton, Burlington and Mount Holly.

"Seven of the defendants are charged with distributing 25 or more separate images or videos of child pornography. If a defendant is convicted of those offenses, they will be subject to a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in state prison without the possibility of parole."

He says a lot of the evidence collected in this case will be analyzed at a brand new cyber crime facility in Hamilton. And he says authorities will continue to aggressively pursue anyone uploading or downloading child porn in the future.
