Talented Philly Chefs Expected When 'Top Chef' Auditions Come To Town

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Top Chef auditions will be held Tuesday at the Philadelphia restaurant of former winner Kevin Sbraga.

He says Philadelphia is a haven for Top Chef talent:

"No other city has two winners."

Sbraga is one of them. The other is Laurel chef/owner Nick Elmi. So what tips does he have for wannabe competitors?

"Be yourself, but be an amplified version of yourself," he tells KYW Newsradio. "Be excited. That's what they're looking for, and when I say excited, it's not just about your personality, it's about your food. Your food's gotta be exciting."

As for how the auditions will go and if there will be any cooking "I have no idea," says Elmi. "With TV production, especially with The Magical Elves and Top Chef, they don't tell you anything. They gave me a phone call and said hey we want to do auditions at your restaurant and I said yeah."

Nevertheless, Sbraga is pumped:

"Hopefully it turns out good. I can't wait to see who shows up."
