All Clear Given After 'Suspicious Package' Prompted Evacuation Of AC County Building

ATLANTIC CITY (CBS) -- The all clear was given after a suspicious package prompted the evacuation of the Atlantic City county building Friday morning.

Chopper 3 was over the scene on the 1300 block of Atlantic Avenue where there was a large police presence monitoring the situation.

Authorities say around 10 a.m. an officer was stopped by a concerned citizen who reported a suspicious package. The officer began to investigate the package with his K-9 partner.

The package was determined to be an unattended suitcase.

Police cleared the area around the suitcase and several buildings were evacuated as a precaution.

Authorities say the Atlantic City Police Bomb Squad responded and deemed the suitcase safe.

The buildings and roadways were reopened after approximately 90 minutes.
