Suspicious Package Outside Delaware Library Causes Evacuation

BEAR, Del. (CBS) -- Police say they evacuated the New Castle County Bear Library in Delaware on Saturday to investigate a suspicious package.

A passerby reported a package with a timer when they were walking past a bike near the library around 12:30 p.m.

The library was evacuated immediately and New Castle County Police closed nearby roads.

Authorities later determined that the package was non-explosive. The item was a device used to capture distance covered on a bicycle.

The owner of the bike has been located and no charges are being filed.
