WEST NORRITON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) -- Police in Montgomery County are looking for a man who tried to steal tools from Walmart, but then left a boy behind when he was confronted by security.

West Norriton Township police say the man was with an 11-year-old boy in the Walmart on Trooper Road last Thursday evening. He put tools in his cart, then put them in plastic shopping bags and tried to leave the store without paying. But when security confronted him, he ran to the parking lot, into a silver sedan with New Jersey plates and took off, leaving the boy behind.

The boy told police how to get in touch with his mother. She wasn't cooperative, and told them the man was watching her son, but she didn't know his full name.

The boy was released back to his mother, but police say Children and Youth services has been contacted.
