Suspected Human Remains Found In Backyard Of South Jersey Home

RIVERTON, N.J. (CBS) -- Authorities are investigating the discovery of what appears to be human remains in the backyard of a South Jersey home.

The discovery was made Monday behind a home in 600 block of Bank Avenue in Riverton, New Jersey.

According to a spokesperson with the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office, the homeowner was having a pool installed when workers that were digging in the ground made the discovery.

The spokesperson said the skeletal remains appear to be human.

The discovery is not considered suspicious at this time.

New Jersey State Police sent out a forensic anthropologist to the home to investigate the discovery.

It is being explored that the location could possibly be an old grave site.

The discovery remains under investigation.
