Suspect in Double Murder at Schuylkill River Returned to Philadelphia Following Va. Arrest

By Ian Bush

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The suspect in a gruesome double murder this summer in which victims were tortured and dumped in the Schuylkill River has been returned to Philadelphia to face charges.

Police sources tell KYW Newsradio that Tam Minh Le is in custody here after being extradited from Virginia.

Le, 43, was captured at a motel in Ashland, Va. earlier this month after a brief standoff with US marshals.

Authorities say Le, along with members of the "BTK" gang, stabbed and bound three men, tied them to weighted buckets, slit their throats, and threw them into the Schuylkill River.  Federal officials say the attack was in retribution for a drug debt.

One man survived. Police say he helped them identify Le as the attacker.

Le was expected to be arraigned later today.
