Suspect Fingered by GPS Tracker After String of NE Philly Store Holdups

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police have arrested a West Oak Lane man in connection with ten robberies, including seven from neighborhood drugstores.
Richard Bynum, 48, who lives on 79th Street near Washington Lane, was arrested on robbery and related charges.
Police say Bynum, also known as Richard Lawrence, would enter a store, point a handgun at a clerk or threaten to blow up the store, and demand money from the cash register.
According to investigators, Bynum's crime spree began on March 5th at a 7-Eleven store on North 5th Street and continued for four months.
He was ultimately arrested after the robbery of a CVS Pharmacy in the 6300 block of Stenton Avenue on June 17th. Police say Bynum demanded money from the store manager, who put money in a bag with a hidden GPS tracking device.
The GPS led police to the 2400 block of 78th Street, where a Chevy Impala was parked. Inside the car, police found a black handgun along with clothing that Bynum was allegedly wearing at the time of the robbery. He was arrested a short time later without incident.
