Handcuffed Man Captured After Breaking Out of Philly Police Car

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)—After a nearly three hour manhunt, police have captured the man who they say broke out of a police cruiser while in handcuffs on Friday, authorities tell CBS 3.

It's happened on the southbound inner lanes at Summerdale in the Lawncrest section of Philadelphia around 6:30 a.m.

Police say the suspect escaped from the back of a police car while handcuffed.

The handcuffed suspect was captured in an alley near the 900 block of East Godfrey Ave.

He was still in handcuffs when police found him.

CBS 3 has learned that the suspect may be involved in the crash of off-duty Pennsylvania State Trooper.

 

There's no word on injuries at this time.
