Suspect Temporarily Escapes Police Custody In Cumberland County

BRIDGETON, NJ (CBS) – Authorities say they have located a suspect who had temporarily escaped from police custody in Fairfield Township.

Authorities say 25-year-old Caesar Lockley was arrested for failure to appear at sentencing on March 15. He was scheduled to be sentenced for failing to notify of a change of address as required by a Megan's Law offender.

Police had set up a perimeter in the forest area where they believed Lockley traveled.

Local schools were notified and officials said officers were placed on post until the end of the school day.

Authorities say Lockley was captured by the Millville Police Department at Cumberland County Fairgrounds just before 4 p.m.

Officials say he is being taken to Inspira Medical Center for medical evaluation and charges for the escape are forthcoming.
