Suspect Arrested For Multiple Burglaries, Stolen Firearm Recovered In Gloucester Township

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ (CBS) – A 19-year-old Sicklerville man has been charged with several residential burglaries in the area.

On Feb. 19 around 11:45 p.m., a homeowner on Ashland Avenue in Gloucester Township reportedly called police because someone was trying to break into his home through a rear sliding door.

Officers on patrol in the area quickly located the suspect walking down the street and identified him as Aaron Ortiz, 19.

Further investigation revealed that Ortiz was responsible for two other residential burglaries as well as another attempted burglary that occurred a few days prior.

A stolen firearm was also recovered.

Ortiz was arrested and taken to the Camden County Correctional Facility on default of $175,000 bail.

He is now facing charges of Burglary (3 Counts), Attempted Burglary (2 Counts), Theft (5 Counts), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and several other criminal offenses.
