Study: Silver Screen Depictions Of Alcohol Could Impact Teen Drinking Habits

BRISTOL, UK (CBS) – The big screen might have a big impact on teenagers when it comes to drinking.

That's according to researchers in England who tracked 5,000 young people who had an approximate average of 15.

Teens frequently exposed to movies featuring liquor consumption were apparently twice as likely to have alcohol-related problems in real life.

The study, which is published in the journal Pediatrics, says that while 72 percent of the top-rated movies in the UK over a 20 year period depicted alcohol, just six percent were rated adult-only.
