Students Facing Charges In Alleged Sexting, Cyber Bullying Scandal In Chester County
TREDYFFRIN Twp., Pa. (CBS) -- Following an investigation into a sexting and bullying ring in a Treddyfrin-Easttown Middle School, which has resulted in charges to four boys, Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan is alerting parents to the prevalence of sexting and cyber-bullying among children.
Tom Hogan calls the Tredyffrin-Easttown case a story of bullying and broken hearts in the cyber age.
Two middle-school students going out with each other, the boy urges the girl to send him pictures, she finally gives in, they break up, and he sends them to friends, who, Hogan says, used them.
"To make a young girl's life miserable. They isolated her, they made fun of her, they did everything they could to make her life hell on earth."
He says parents need to be aware this is happening in every school district here and across the country. He says parents need to talk to their children.
A Chester County detective says they've investigated children as young as nine posting explicit content to the web.
He aslo demonstrated an app called "Vault," which children use to hide photos on a phone, in this case, in what appeared to be a calculator.
