Strong Storms, Then Cooler

By Justin Drabick

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Scattered strong to possibly severe thunderstorms will continue to impact the Delaware Valley overnight. Expect the potential for strong wind gusts of 40+ mph, heavy rainfall, frequent lightning and hail.

Some storms are producing rainfall rates of over 1" causing flash flooding. A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 2 a.m. Monday for areas North & West of Philadelphia. Quieter conditions will begin to return after 3 a.m. as the storms move offshore.

A cold front will then move through the region on Monday. This will keep the chance for a shower and thunderstorm in the forecast for Monday. High temperatures will be cooler in the low to mid 80s with dropping humidity levels during the day. Behind the front, below average temperatures continue for Tuesday with comfortable conditions.
