Stone Harbor Mayor: 'It's Pretty Bad, Town Is Totally Without Power'

STONE HARBOR, NJ (CBS) -- Residents in Stone Harbor, New Jersey are dealing with extreme flooding and power outages during a massive winter storm that is pounding the region.

Mayor Suzanne Walters tells Eyewitness News, "It's pretty bad. The town is totally without power."

"We're waiting on the county to open their shelter and we may be evacuating people because they're probably not going to be able to get to the power until tomorrow because of the high winds."

Walters says she thinks the flooding so bad because of the full moon.

"The tide is very, very high."

Despite Governor Christie insisting conditions are not as bad as Superstorm Sandy, Walters says, "It's definitely a foot or a half of a foot higher than Sandy was."

"I think to the north of us is not as bad, but for whatever reason, with the full moon, the high tide was just exceptional."
