Still Time For Needy Phila. Seniors To Get Free Produce Coupons

By Lynne Adkins

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Low-income senior citizens in Philadelphia still have time to get coupons for free fruits and vegetables.

The $20 vouchers are available at the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging on North Broad Street.

Nutrition Manager Susan Gibson says the vouchers will help seniors put healthy food on the table when shopping at certain markets:

"It has to be certified farmer's market this is for fresh produce grown in Pa and it's actually $4-$5 coupons so you can spend them all at once or one at a time and you can spend them up until November."

The coupons are free for low-income Philadelphia residents 60 and older. They are available everyday this week, then only on Fridays until all the vouchers are gone.
