PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Singer Stevie Wonder performed a surprise free concert at Dilworth Park Monday afternoon.

It was a part of his three cities in one day Wonder Moments Tour.

Dilworth Park was filled to the gills as hundreds played hooky from work for a little finger-snapping and sing-a-long Stevie Wonder style.

Wonder spoke from a stage at the southwest corner of City Hall. He thanked the city for their support and took a few questions as he announced he's extending his Songs in the Key of Life tour to add dates in 20 American cities, including Philadelphia.

"That'll be the last time it'll be performed here," said Wonder.

Wonder also called for an end to gun violence.

"The laws have to change so that people who should not have guns don't," said Wonder.

Wonder will perform in Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center on October 7th.

Tickets go on sale Friday.
