State Police: No Phila. Area Driving Fatalities During July 4th Holiday

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Pennsylvania State Police say the Philadelphia area avoided any traffic-related deaths during this year's Fourth of July Holiday travel period.

Officials with Troop K, based on Belmont Avenue, which covers Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties, say that between Thursday, July 3rd,  and Sunday, July 6th, state troopers investigated 78 crashes which led to 14 injuries, but no fatalities.

Officials say a total of 932 citations were issued during that period, with only 35 of those being for DUI.

Three hundred fifteen speeding violations were recorded, as were 34 seat belt or child-seat violations.
