State Police Cracking Down On Speeders Along Pa. Turnpike
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Do you drive the Pennsylvania Turnpike?
If so, State Police will be catching speeding drivers in work zones – places where you least expect them.
Troopers will be sitting in construction vehicles with their radar guns, while other troopers wait ahead.
Anyone caught doing 11 miles over the speed limit will face fines of $200 and a 15-day license suspension.
"So we have our lights illuminated, they have warning signs out, and still sometimes people come by, and we have a zero tolerance policy here with State Police, and especially out of King of Prussia station," says Cpl. David Webb. "We try to pull those cars over and let them know that they're, you know, breaking the law."
Last June, Turnpike maintenance worker Bill McGuigan was killed by a truck while he was working on the Turnpike in Chester County.
