State Police: 5 Injured In NJ When Car Crashes Into Tree

FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — Five people were hospitalized after a car struck a tree in southern New Jersey.

State police say three of the injured were ejected from the vehicle when the crash occurred around 3 a.m. Sunday in Fairfield Township. The vehicle was traveling on Route 49 when it left the roadway and crashed through a bus stop before hitting the tree.

Two of the victims were seriously injured and were flown to hospitals. But further details on their conditions and information on the three other victims were not disclosed.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation. It did not appear that any other vehicles were involved in the crash.
