Twitter Scandal Rocks State College School District
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — Police and school district officials say at least two people are responsible for posting comments on Twitter that criticized students and administrators in a central Pennsylvania school district.
But State College police and State College Area School District officials have stopped short of saying whether those involved were students or will face criminal charges.
School Superintendent Bob O'Donnell says the individuals and their families have been contacted by school officials, and police Chief Tom King says his officers will consult with the Centre County district attorney to determine whether any crimes occurred.
The tweets posted @SCHateTweets criticized students for everything ranging from their personalities and appearance to alleged sexual activity and drug use. High school Principal Scott DeShong and O'Donnell were also criticized.
Twitter has suspended the account where the Tweet began last Thursday.
