STAMP Pass Helps Youths Connect With Arts And Culture

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance is kicking off its latest effort to get teenagers excited about the city's arts and culture scene.

Students At Museums in Philly -- also known as STAMP -- is a partnership between the Cultural Alliance and area museums that encourages high school age students to check twelve museums and cultural attractions across the city.

"They sign up online and they get a STAMP pass," says Michael Norris, executive director of the Cultural Alliance, "and then they can access all sorts of museums for free."

Norris says students can shop the STAMP pass during when school is out and get into the Philadelphia Zoo, the African-American Museum and others locations for free -- a win for both parents and schools.

"Kids who are involved in the arts have better educational outcomes" Norris says. "They do better on tests, they have less truancy."
