Staffing Experts Say It's A Job-Seekers Market As Businesses Recover From Recession

By Michelle Durham

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The nation's job market is slowly recovering. What it is like in our area? Who is being hired now?

Tony Petrucci, Temple University Assistant Professor and and President of Executive Search Firm Gravitas, says the tables have turned in this job market in favor of the job seeker.

"Most industries are picking up," he said. "Companies are sitting on a lot of cash. Previously during the recession, people were looking for very specific skill sets and they weren't going to compromise."

Petrucci says employers are allowing upwardly mobile folks to morph into positions.

Hiring in healthcare is strong for men and women, according to Lisa Spector President and CEO of Staffing Plus in Haverford.

"It shouldn't matter wheather it's a male or a female," she said. "It matters that you're a great person, smart, driven, passionate, compassionate, and have a great attitude and aptitude."

Both say that is what employers are looking for.
