St. Joe's Suspends Softball Team After Investigation Into Hazing Allegations

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The season is over for the St. Joseph's University women's softball team. The school pulled the plug on the team after an investigation into hazing allegations.
The University cut the season short on Friday, announcing that a Community Standards Review process that begun a month ago concluded there had been violations.
The statement said privacy laws prevented it from disclosing details, but earlier reports said the investigation had begun when a parent and student came forward in late March, alleging freshman had been forced to drink alcohol and engage in sexual conduct when they joined the team in the fall.
Four players had been suspended earlier.
The team would have been playing an afternoon double-header on Saturday at St. Bonaventure in hopes of making it into the conference championship.
