St. Joe's Plays Host To 33rd Annual Riyaadah Games

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Thousands of Muslims from throughout the country are visiting Philadelphia this weekend for the 33rd annual Riyaadah Games at St. Joseph's University.

There a number of events over the course of the three day Islamic sports convention.

"Just because it's Islamically based, we're all Muslims that are doing this, but we welcome everybody," says Majeedah Rashid with the Riyaadah planning committee. "We welcome the general community. Anybody is welcome to participate in all the activities."

Muhassin Booth from New York came with his teammates to compete in the basketball tournament.

"Each community comes out and enjoys in the festivities," Booth says. "Not just the basketball but all the activities. I like the competition."

There are food and merchandise vendors outside.

Riyaadah continues Sunday and features an Iron Man competition.
