PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Spring is in full swing and festival season kicked off Saturday along South Street with the Spring Festival.

"It's my first day wearing flop flops." said Mia from West Deptford. "I'm so excited."

Mia couldn't think of a better way to enjoy the beautiful weather than with a cold beer and a hot burger.

"Oh I love it. The atmosphere is great. People are great. And the food! I can not wait to eat!"

Kory Aversa is part of the team that helped organize this enormous event.

"It's one of Philadelphia's largest block parties of the year." said Aversa. "We have 40 bands., 150 vendors, 35 restaurants."

He's expecting a record-setting crowd of more than 40,000 people were expected to come out of hibernation to soak up the sun in this family friendly environment.

There was also plenty of activities for kids, including face painting, balloon animals, and more.
