Special Police Officer In New Jersey Charged With Child Porn

TOMS RIVER, N.J. (AP) — Authorities have charged a special police officer in Seaside Heights with possessing and distributing child pornography.

Twenty-one-year-old Kevin Meier is held on $50,000 bail. It's not known if he has an attorney.

Meier was arrested at the Seaside Heights Police Department after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children tipped off Ocean County officials.

He was fired from his job as a Class II officer. The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office says such officers are typically hired on a seasonal basis to supplement a police department in response to a large influx in population during the summer tourism season.
