Special Effort Underway In AC To Help The Homeless During The Holiday Season

ATLANTIC CITY (CBS) – Atlantic City Police joined the Jewish Family Services and Atlantic City Rescue Mission to spread some holiday cheer Tuesday.

The department received a donation of 300 bagged lunches from Tony Luke's at the Tropicana to give out to the homeless.

Their homeless outreach team, lead by Officer William Wenz, also did a sweep on and under the boardwalk to identify people in need of shelter and other wellness services.

One of their objectives was to help out-of-town homeless individuals connect with family to for the holidays.

"We contact the family member and try to get them back reunited with the family with New Jersey Transit gives us some free bus passes," says Wenz.
