Spataro's selling pink cheesesteaks at Reading Terminal Market to benefit domestic violence victims

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A long-standing business at the Reading Terminal Market is doing something a little unique to help victims of domestic violence. From now until Oct.15 Spataro's Cheesesteaks' gooey golden cheese wiz will be tickled pink.

The 75-year-old stand in the Reading Terminal Market is known for slinging classic cheesesteaks in seconds. With the real deal decadence, you expect on a Philly staple.

Third-generation owner Alex Spataro says he's not just doing it for fun, this is wiz "wit" a purpose.

"That's the magic stuff!" he said. "I'm going to throw some steak on here and top it off with a little more pink!"

The pink cheese sauce is made with American cheese and pink food coloring.

Proceeds from every pink cheesesteak will go towards A Woman's Place, a domestic violence community-based organization in Bucks County.

"I first heard about A Woman's Place when they visited my elementary school in third grade. It was eye-opening to know that everyone doesn't have it as well as I do," Spataro said. "Not everyone is able to go home to a nice loving home. Not everyone is able to get through the day with that security. It's not something I understood fully as a kid but since then its become something so important."

A Woman's Place executive director Marianne Lynch said, "We have resources to help people. When they call the hotline, they will be believed, they will be supported, they will be given real-time information about what's happening in their life and hopefully, they can find a path out by reaching out to us." Spataro said.

"We're here to do what we can make some good cheesesteaks and French fries and they'll take care of the rest," Spataro said.

The pink cheesesteak costs $15.
