By Kim Glovas

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia Police and the Pennsylvania SPCA have put a South Philadelphia man behind bars after neighbors suspected dog fighting on his property.

On October 28th, police received a call about possible animal fighting in the 2200 block of Mifflin Street.

"That evening, we were able to execute a search warrant at the property," Rebecca Glenn-Dinwoodie with the SPCA says, "and on the premises we discovered, eight puppies and five adult dogs, so 13 dogs in total. And we also discovered some paraphernalia of dog fighting, treadmills, and spring poles, and some other documentation."

The property owner, 39-year old Carlton Lane, is now facing 13 felony counts of animal cruelty and related crimes.

The puppies and dogs are awaiting adoption at the SPCA.
