South Jersey Woman's Death Being Probed As Homicide

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS/AP) — Authorities say the death of a woman whose body was found on a southern New Jersey roadway will be investigated as a homicide.

Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain said 25-year-old Joyce Vanderhoff of Egg Harbor Township was spotted Friday morning by a motorist on Weymouth Road in Hamilton Township.

But he declined further comment on the case, including how the body may have ended up on the roadway or how long it may have been there before it was discovered.

A cause of death has not been disclosed, but the State Medical Examiner's Office has ruled the death a homicide.

Investigators are asking anyone with information pertaining to this case or who has witnessed any suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 609-909-7666 or the Hamilton Township Police Department at 609-625-2700.
