South Jersey residents report loud boom in the area

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. (CBS) -- Many people throughout New Jersey and Delaware felt the earth shake Friday afternoon, but it wasn't an earthquake. Instead, it was the result of a sonic boom from a military flyover over the Atlantic Ocean.

A home surveillance camera captured the loud noise in Mount Laurel.

People jumped on social media trying to figure out what had happened, but it turned out it was caused by a military plane flying over the Atlantic Ocean.

The weather and atmospheric conditions at the time caused the sonic boom to be felt and heard on land.
