South Jersey Parents Accused Of Assaulting 11-Week-Old Son

DEPTFORD, NJ (CBS) – According to the Gloucester County Prosecutor, the mother and father of an infant have been charged with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with injuries to the 11-week-old baby.

Officials say Preston English and Sara-Lena Lannon were arrested on Wednesday.

They were both charged after a detective with the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit responded to the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware to investigate a suspected case of abuse involving a child with fractures of a leg and ribs.

The prosecutor's office says the child has since been discharged and is in the care of the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency.

Authorities say Preston English and Sara-Lena Lannon are both being held in default of $100,000 bail.
