South Jersey Man Arrested, Charged With Setting Numerous Brush Fires

WINSLOW TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) -- Police in Camden County have arrested a Winslow Township man in connection with nearly two dozen brush fires in the past two years.

Winslow Township police Sergeant Ray Cogan says New Jersey Forest Fire Service investigators had been keeping tabs on 62-year-old Dennis Casario in connection with a number of deliberately set fires.

"Last night, they actually, based on their own investigation, witnessed him set and start a fire."

Cogan says after starting the fire, Casario drove off. Winslow Township police were called, and arrested Casario Tuesday night at his home. During questioning by police, Cogan says the suspect told them he'd been busy.

"He did admit and confess to lighting about 20 brush fires over the last two years," Cogan says.

Casario is charged with arson; other counts could be added. He's being held at the Camden County Jail on $75,000 bail.
