South Jersey Library Helps People Earn High School Diploma Online

CAMDEN, NJ. (CBS) -- A local library is helping people who need a high school diploma get one online.

Qualifying students to the Career Online High School must know their way around a computer, because Linda Devlin, Director of the Camden County Library System, says all the work is done online.

"Another unique feature is that you leave the program with more than just a high school diploma," Devlin says. "Career Online High School also provides a career certificate in eight possible fields such as child care and education, office management and retail customer service."

Devlin says workers will help offer support and other services to the students.

"We will be offering a lot of other supplemental services while they're doing the coursework," she says. "For example, they'll meet with people from college, or we'll offer them a workshop on how to do a resume or how to do a job search online so we're preparing them for once they're finished."

The program is free and students must sign up through the library's website.
