New Jerseyans Welcome In The New Year

By David Spunt

CAMDEN, NJ (CBS) -- New Jerseyans waited anxiously to welcome 2015. Eyewitness News caught up with people spending the night on the USS New Jersey on the Delaware River.

"It's cramped but it's cozy," Liam Goldbacher says.

Goldbacher joined his friends on the World War II battleship.

"It's a really good experience for us right now. This is something not many people get to see," Goldbacher adds.

Eyewitness News also spoke to church members at Gloucester County Community Church who prayed for 2015 to be a year full of non-violence and good fortune.

"The Lord has really blessed us in the year 2014," Sharon Williams says.

Kids in Camden said goodbye to 2014 by spending time with police officers who gave out goodies and made sure everyone was safe.

"I grew up in this city all my life and when I was a kid growing up there was nothing like this," said Camden County Lieutenant Felix Rivera.
