Some Manayunk Merchants Press On, Others Take a Snow Day

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- As our area digs its way out of this latest snowstorm, many local businesses are trying to keep their doors open as they attempt to turn a profit.

It's been quite a struggle for businesses in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia.    Many businesses along Main Street didn't bother to shovel their sidewalk, let alone open their doors.

Akos Racz, who owns Volo Coffeehouse, didn't let the weather stop him.  He was up bright and early to make sure he could open his doors on time.

But he says his usual morning rush was nonexistent today.

"I don't blame people for being closed and staying home -- it's probably a good idea," he admits.

Bobby Conadaris, who owns Zesty's Restaurant, says he doesn't know if it's worth opening up his shop tonight:

"If I see it's going to be too cold and they're talking about rain and more snow, it's not worth wasting the electric and the heat sometimetimes, ya know?"

Then you have places such as Starbucks, which opened up until shortly after noon, then closed their doors for the day.
