Some Delaware County Restaurants Rushing To Get Liquor Licenses Before Outdoor Event

MEDIA, Pa. (CBS) – Some Delaware County restaurants are scrambling to get liquor licenses ahead of next week's "Dining Under the Stars" event.

Pennsylvania Liquor Control Enforcement says some of the restaurants in downtown Media don't have proper permits to sell alcohol on the streets.

Officials say the $220 permit must be renewed annually.

"Everybody is happy that we know what the rules are now," says Mayor Bob McMahon. "A lot of us will say, 'Well, we should have known before,' and if that's so, well, we made a mistake and we're correcting it as quickly as we can."

Some are apparently planning to keep on serving alcohol outside while the application process plays out.

Dining Under the Stars has been going on for eight years and happens every Wednesday night between May and September.
