Pinterest has released its first transparency report.

The document details the number of information requests Pinterest received in the past six months from both state and federal government agencies.

There were only 12 government requests from July to December in 2013. Pinterest produced information for 11 of those 12 requests but did not characterize the information it shared.

In a blog post, Pinterest says it plans to publish similar reports every six months.

Facebook's purchase of the mobile messaging service WhatsApp has been opposed by privacy groups.

Opponents want us regulators to stop the deal until Facebook provides more information on what it plans to do with the personal data of WhatsApp's users.

The FTC will decide whether the acquisition can go ahead and, if so, whether or not conditions should be imposed.
