Plane En Route From Pa. Crashes Into Massachusetts Home

PLAINVILLE, MA (CBS) – A small plane that crashed into a Massachusetts home late Sunday evening took off from Lancaster Airport in Pennsylvania, officials say.

The crash happened in the town of Plainville, about 30 miles outside of Boston.

All three people on the plane – including a juvenile -- were killed. The home erupted into flames, but all four people inside at the time of impact got out safely.

Eric Takach lives nearby and heard the crash. He says he initially thought it came from a nearby quarry:

"I said 'they don't blast on Sunday' and I ran outside and my daughter was in the front yard and I saw a whole fireball. Everything was engulfed."

Just before the crash, the pilot reported an engine problem.

The NTSB will be on the scene Monday to investigate.
