Skeletal Remains Of Missing Delaware Man Found

NEWARK, Del. (CBS) -- Police say human skeletal remains found by hiker in Delaware are that of a man who went missing nearly a year and a half ago.

The remains were discovered around 4:30 p.m. Friday by a hiker who was searching off trail for shed deer antlers in the thick brush of a heavily wooded area behind Fremont Road in Newark.

The hiker alerted State Park Rangers who later notified police after confirming the remains.

After a preliminary investigation, the remains were positively identified through dental records as that of John Dohms.

Dohms, who suffered from dementia, was last seen on September 13th, 2012. An intensive search was conducted in the woodlands surrounding White Clay Creek State Park, but Dohms was never located.

The cause and manner of death is still under investigation.
