Sixers Suspend Jahlil Okafor Following Boston Fighting Videos

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The day after the Sixers picked up their first win of the season, the team announced that they would be suspending their star-rookie, Jahlil Okafor, for two games.

A pair of TMZ videos were released over the past week allegedly showing Okafor, 19, getting into two fights following a Sixers game in Boston against the Celtics.

The second video was released on Wednesday and the team acted quickly in suspending Okafor ahead of their game against the Knicks. The team released the following statement:

We have made the determination to suspend Jahlil Okafor for two games, effective immediately. Jahlil is a very important part of our organization and our future.  While we are disappointed with his recent actions, we have faith in him as a valued member of the Sixers. We will provide the necessary resources to support him on his journey and will do our part to help him succeed both on and off the court.

The Sixers face the Knicks on Wednesday night and then take on the Nuggets in Philadelphia on Saturday.
