Sixers Select Joel Embiid With The 3rd Pick In The NBA Draft

PHILADELPHIA, PA(CBS) -- The pick is in. With the third selection in the 2014 NBA Draft, the Philadelphia 76ers have selected Kansas Center Joel Embiid. The Kansas big man was the consensus number one pick until an injury to his foot required surgery.

Last year at Kansas Embiid averaged 11.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 2.6 blocks in 23.1 minutes per game. An injury to his back kept him from playing in the NCAA tournament. The Sixers will have to try to now pair two near seven footers together in Embiid and last year's number six pick, Nerlens Noel.
