Sixers Look To Avoid History Tonight in Minnesota

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The 76ers will look to do something tonight in Minnesota that they have yet to do at all this season.

Win a game.

Philadelphia is 0-17 and if they come up short again tonight, they will tie the NBA record for the most consecutive losses to start a season. The 2009-2010 (then New Jersey) Nets went 0-18 to begin the campaign.

The Sixers are expected to have the services of big man Nerlens Noel in this one. He missed Monday's loss to San Antonio with a hip pointer. The Sixers will be short in the back court, however, as guards Tony Wroten (knee) and Alexey Shved (hip) will both miss the game because of injury.

This would seem to be a winnable game on paper for the 76ers. Minnesota has struggled to the tune of a 4-12 record and they will be without several key pieces in leading scorer Kevin Martin (wrist), leading rebounder Nikola Pekovic (wrist), Ricky Rubio (ankle) and Ronny Turiaf (hip).

This will be the first time former Sixer Thad Young will face his old team. He was traded to Minnesota prior to the season and he is second on the team in scoring, averaging 13.4 points per game for the Timberwolves.
