PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's an exciting time to be a Philadelphia Sixers fan!
The team held an NBA Draft party Thursday on Eakins Oval to celebrate the selection of their number one pick...Ben Simmons.
Amid the smell of the food trucks and beat of the music was fans hoping this will be the city's chance for a new beginning
"We've had some lean years...and so this year, with the first pick, this is the night it turns around."
"I have been a Sixers fan ever since I was little... I am just really happy they got the number one overall pick."
And then the team made their choice, which was met with loud cheers.
Sixers legend Julius Irving says this could be the team's rebirth:
"The city is brimming with excitement, and there's so much anticipation, I mean, it's going to boil over. It's a big moment, no question about it."
